The colour indigo brings such inspiration; used for centuries throughout Japanese, Chinese and Indian cultures, it signifies strength, integrity, and introspection. It is as bold and fresh today as it was centuries ago, and lately I have been using it in my home every chance I can.
We are feeding off of these indigo vibes as we start a new beginning at henhouse! The past month has been a flurry of activity- closing up our retail shop, saying “goodbye” (for now!) to all of our wonderful customers, and taking on two new kitchen reno projects! Phewph! It was a whirlwind, but we are excited for what is next, and we are abounding with ideas and inspiration.
So, what are we dreaming and scheming now?!
With such a wonderful following and customer base, we have been brainstorming on how we can continue to reach our customers on a regular or semi-regular basis. The idea of hosting a henhouse “Event” once or twice a year has been met with much positive response. Call it a pop-up shop, hen sale, bazaar or what have you, we’ll gather up our favourite items and offer them for sale during a one week long event. We are thinking antiques, henhouse furniture, vintage finds, beautiful bed linens, hemp soaps, sari throws, market baskets from France and Morrocco, glass ware etc. All the lovely hand-picked essentials that henhouse is known and loved for! We think this will be so much fun, and a great way to reconnect with old customers and new.
We are continuing to build kitchens and furniture! We truly feel that buying local keeps our community vibrant and unique, and we want to continue to be a part of that by producing quality, locally made furnishings. We have such a talented team of builders and finishers that are all right here in Nova Scotia. We are looking into having our furniture more easily available for purchase directly though our website, so check back here for that update in the coming months. For now, if you are looking for the perfect harvest table or want to inquire about a kitchen re-design please contact Sappho!
As these new plans come to fruition, stay tuned to our Facebook page and our blog for updates about future henhouse events, our ongoing kitchen projects, and everything else that we’re up to behind the scenes. Click here to sign up for our newsletter to get all of this info right in your mailbox!
