A Master Bedroom Gets the Henhouse Touch

Published on

Tackling a home decor project can be overwhelming. There’s a lot of time involved in planning (so many decisions!), sourcing (more decisions!), and then finally bringing it to life.

This summer I helped a busy client whose master bedroom was in a bit of a limbo state. The room was an addition that had been put on years ago, and the decor was never quite completed. Like many people, she doesn’t have time to sort out all of the details of a home decor project.

Below, you can see what the bedroom looked like before. The beautiful Persian rug on the right became part of the design, and inspired the colour palette for the room.

I came up with a design package that included a floor plan, colour design, and suggestions and sources for all of the other elements like furniture, lighting and bedding and window dressings. She already had a wonderful headboard from Bellissimo in Halifax, which I incorporated into the new look.

She loved the design, and asked the henhouse team to execute it while she was away on holiday. I liked the idea of having a big reveal when she returned, and got to right to work!

FullSizeRender (1)I created custom designs for the side tables and bench (above), and the dresser (below), which were all hand built by our team here in Nova Scotia. The toss cushions on the bed were custom made by Bellissimo.

We found this funky mirror at Homesense. We were just waiting for the client’s approval before hanging it (hence the not so funky cardboard wrapping!).

The sweet polka dot wallpaper on the ceiling is by Thibaut, also from Bellissimo, and the chandelier was shipped from a company in the U.S.

My client was really happy with results when she returned home. So happy in fact, that we are about to get started on her kitchen and front foyer!

If you have a space that you would like help with please get in touch! My design package starts at $500 and includes an in-home visit, floor-plan, colour design, and suggestions and sources for furnishings, bedding, window coverings, and lighting.

If you are a DIY type you can take the plan and execute it yourself, or I’d be happy to execute the plan for you for an additional fee. Either way, you’ll end up with a beautiful, professionally designed space! Email me to get started!
