Current Obsessions and Inspirations

As the the air outside crisps, and temperatures begin to drop, my eye is drawn to rich colours and luxurious textures. Deep jewel toned palettes, with pops of polished brass and gold, perfect moody lighting, printed velvets, plaids and wools are all on my radar these days.

Blog Oct-001A visit with my fabric rep always gets my creative juices going. Last week she showed me some beautiful new lines by Mulberry Home and Ralph Lauren Home. Printed velvet, plaids, and wools were in abundance for this season’s collections.

It’s easy to incorporate some of these cozy, rich fabrics to your nest by using them for toss cushions, or to upholster a small chair. The fabrics are all available for sale through henhouse, please contact me to inquire, or if you have a project in mind that you need help with!

FallCollage1The new fabrics are all easily incorporated with the trend of dark inky backdrops, and jewel tones which I am also loving right now. Some of my current favourite colours are Newburyport Blue, Cascabel Chile (both seen above), Plum Martini, Stained Glass, and Cinnabar (below) all by Benjamin Moore.

My own home was ready for a few updates this year, so I incorporated these luscious hues into my kitchen and adjacent dining area. I painted the walls and ceiling in Newburyport Blue, added a new vintage brass light fixture above the sink, and new roman shades. These small changes were quick and easy, and I love the result!

Blog Oct3If you’re interested in incorporating new fabrics into your own nest this fall, or looking to update paint colours contact me! I can help you choose the right colours, or decide on what fabrics would work best with your existing furniture and colour scheme. A few simple updates can make a big difference, and I’d love to help!
